Demolition began this morning on the old sanctuary, built in 1824, at Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys. The building is expected to be down by the end of the day. The demolition is part of a $3.3 million project for a new worship center and the remodeling of the present educational building. The new facilities are expected to be completed by spring of 2009.
