Marjorie Baird
Marjorie P. Baird, 92, 11302 Bobwhite Lane, St. Marys, died at 10:30 a.m. March 24, 2009, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Living Community.
She was born Dec. 29, 1916, in Sidney, to Tully and Anna Pfefferle Potter. Her first husband, E.J. Hammann, died in 1961. On June 15, 1974, she married Elbert Baird, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, James J. Hammann, New Orleans, La., and Joseph P. Hammann, Tipp City; a brother, Thomas (Ann) Potter, Whispering Pines, N.C.
Deceased are two sisters, Helen Lees and Frances Dilbone Anderson; and three brothers, Donald, Robert and Paul Potter.
She was a 1933 graduate of Sidney High School and worked as an administrative assistant in the law office of Urban Dooley, and was a court reporter for Shelby County, an administrative assistant at Parkwood Junior High (Northwood) and the Stolle Corp., from which she retired in 1978. She was a member of First Methodist Church, Sidney, where she served on the Official Board, and is a member of the Methodist Church, New Knoxville. She was a member and past president of the Sidney Altrusa Club and a founding member of the Sidney Theater Guild.
Services are 1:30 p.m. April 25 in the Meyer Chapel of Otterbein, the Rev. Dennis Gaertner officiating. Burial is at a later date at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
