Earl Daugherty
Earl Daugherty, 84, 516 Cleveland Ave., St. Marys, died at 11:30 p.m., April 27, 2009, at his residence.
He was born March 30, 1925, in St. Marys to Earl and Helen Rupert Daugherty. On Aug. 31, 1946, he married Janice Burden, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Larry (Bobbi) Daugherty, St. Marys; a daughter, Barbara (Tim) Slomers, Montgomery, Mich.; a sister, Jane Eichenauer, Celina; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Daugherty, Goetzville, Mich.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Robert.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, he retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 40 years service. He was a life charter member of VFW Post 9289 in St. Marys, and was past commander. He was a special fireman in St. Marys, a committee man of the Democratic Party and served on the zoning board of appeals. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys, the Rev. William Maki officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Military honors will be given by the VFW.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the VFW Post will hold services at 7 p.m.
