The Third District Court of Appeals has rejected the appeal of a Chickasaw man sentenced to 24 years in prison for the traffic deaths of four area teenagers. His attorneys claimed the lengthy sentence represented cruel and unusual punishment.
The judgment filed Monday in Lima means the conviction and sentence of 23-year-old Nicholas Schwieterman, currently an inmate at the Toledo Correctional Institution, will stand. [More]

Mercer County Head Start will be relocated to the former Franklin school building in Montezuma next school year, Celina City Schools Superintendent Matt Miller announced at a school board meeting Monday night.
The program, currently housed at the Celina Education Complex with one unit at Coldwater Exempted Village Schools, will be moved because of the additional space at the Montezuma facility, Miller said. [More]
