Rita Schaefer
Rita A. Sudhoff Schaefer, 88, 700 Pine Road, Coldwater, died at 2:55 p.m. Sept. 13, 2009, at Briarwood Village.
She was born March 22, 1921, in Celina, to John and Mary Boeckman Goecke. On May 3, 1943, she married Ralph Sudhoff in St. Sebastian and he died Jan. 23, 1965. On July 28, 1970, she married Gregory Schaefer in St. Anthony and he died July 29, 1993.
Surviving are four sons: Gary (Nita), Roger (Kate), all of Coldwater, Eric (Patricia), Celina, Patrick (Bernice), St. Anthony; two daughters, Carolyn (Ron) Stucke, Cassella, and Judith (Mark) Hoenie, Celina; sister Clotilda Muhlenkamp, McCartyville; a sister-in-law, Alvera Sudhoff, Celina; 27 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Gregory and Urban Goecke; and three sisters, Ida Moeller, Emma Dorston and Margaret Schoch.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony, where she was a CCD teacher, choir member and a member of the Altar Rosary Sodality.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Walling officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Contributions may be made to the Cheryl Ann Program or to State of the Heart Hospice.
