First responders work at the scene of a three-vehicle accident that occurred at 4:53 p.m. Friday at the intersection of state Route 29 and Grand Lake Road. It occurred as William E. Richardson, 76, 3652 Edgewater Drive, St. Marys, was driving eastbound on state Route 703 when his brakes reportedly malfunctioned and his 1998 Dodge Ram traveled through a red light and struck a southbound 2004 Ford Expedition driven by Linda Williams, 62, of Fairfield. Williams' vehicle spun and struck a 2004 Honda Pilot driven by Nichole M. Patterson, 35, 115 Wild Cherry St., Celina. It was stopped northbound waiting to turn at the time. Celina Fire Department and rescue personnel responded to the scene but no one was transported. Richardson was cited for an unsafe vehicle and the heavily damaged vehicles were towed from the scene.
