Parkway Middle School seventh-grader Grace Linn won the 2010 Mercer County spelling bee with the word "synthetically" Monday evening in the James F. Dicke Hall at Wright State University-Lake Campus. Second-place finisher, Olivia Hemmelgarn, a Marion Local eighth-grader, is seen in the background waiting her turn. It took the 21 contestants 13 rounds and 202 words to get to a champion. St. Henry eighth-grader Chase Hemmelgarn was third. The top three advance to the regional spelling competition March 20 in Lima.
