Irene Meiring
Irene S. Meiring, 80, 287 N. Hanover St., Minster, died at 9:15 p.m. March 21, 2010, at her home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Maria Stein to Bernard and Cecelia Heitkamp Vehorn. On July 23, 1949, she married Marcus "Mike" Meiring, who died Sept. 30, 2001.
Surviving are eight children, Carol (George) McMaster, Michael (Teresa) Meiring, Gary (Peg) Meiring, Cindy (Tom) Brown, Mary (Jeff) Moeller and Ken (Connie) Meiring, all of Minster, Karen (Eric) Coffman, Heiskell, Tenn., and Sandy (Ted) Gudorf, Clayton; three sisters, Vera Stucke, Maria Stein, Mary Miller, Cincinnati, and Dolores "Dottie" Meiring, Minster; two sisters-in-laws, Donna Vehorn, Botkins, and Nancy Verhorn, New Bremen; and a brother-in-law, Elton "Sonny" Meiring, Minster; and 17 grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Thomas Meiring; four brothers, Elmer, Bill, Herb and Ralph Meiring; and three sisters, Sally Huelskamp, Viola Ernst, and Esther Meiring.
She was a homemaker and board of elections poll worker. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster and its Mission Commission. She was a church monitor, volunteer at Heritage Manor and member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391 Auxiliary, Minster American Legion Auxiliary, TPA Minster and Beer Can Collectors of America.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
Contributions can be made to the Heritage Manor Activity Fund and Ohio Mission Commission.
