William Gene Emans, 73, Mendon, died March 28, 2010, at his home.
He was born Sept. 15, 1936, in Mercer County, to Raymond Emans and Marjorie VanTilburg Emans. On May 27, 1961, he married Frances A. Jackson, who died Oct. 2, 2006.
Surviving are a son, John (Mi Ryong) Emans, Lorton, Va.; two daughters, Margie (Jody) Oates, Greer, S.C., and Kaye Emans, Westerville; a brother, Larry Emans; two sisters, Sara Kline and Luella May; and four grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Tommy Lee Emans.
He retired from Fort Wayne newspapers and also worked at the Rockford Press, Van Wert Times Bulletin and Lima Star. He was a member of Mendon United Methodist Church, International Typographical Union and the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, the Rev. Don Clinger officiating. Burial will be at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
