The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Ethel Taylor
Ethel Fay Taylor, 89, Van Wert, died at 2:11 p.m. May 17, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
She was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Sandusky County, to Lewis and Lucy Mottinger Odaffer. On March 27, 1938, she married Glenn Myrle Rickard, who died Dec. 1, 1970. On May 17, 1978, she married Max Taylor, who died Feb. 26, 2002.
Surviving are seven children, Shirley Clark, Ohio City, Don (Darlene) Rickard, Pleasanton, Calif., Bonnie (John) Shaffer, Van Wert, Sandra (Richard) Shrank, Bristow, Va., Phyllis (Phil) Etzler, Convoy, Terry Rickard, Grover Hill, and Debbie Hire, Van Wert; four stepchildren, Valerie (Gerald) Baker, Beloit, Timothy Taylor, Columbia, Tenn., Jacqueline (Bryce) Beckman and Kenneth (Jean) Taylor, Van Wert; 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Harold Dean Rickard; six brothers, Russell, William, Roy, Carl, Forest and Floyd Odaffer; and two sisters, Clara Coil-Rogers and Mary Anna Coil.
She was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church near Ohio City and Apostolic Church in Van Wert. She was a homemaker and farmer. She also worked at Sharp Canning Company and the Smith Nursing Home, Rockford, Van Wert County Home in Middle Point and the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Robert Fracke officiating. Burial is at Tomlinson Cemetery in Union Township, Mercer County.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. today and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
