Officials detail ideas to better water quality

GRAND LAKE - Attempts to fix Grand Lake will begin in September.
But there will be no quick fix, said EPA Director Chris Korleski during a press conference Friday at Wright State University-Lake Campus.
Korleski joined Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and other state officials as they laid out short- and long-term action plans to restore the degraded lake. [More]

The state may prohibit farmers in the Grand Lake Watershed from wintertime manure application and require them to obtain a comprehensive management plan.
The proposals introduced Friday as part of a solution to Grand Lake's water quality problems could go into effect in December if approved. [More]

Some members of Grand Lake's business community erupted in anger during Friday's visit by Gov. Ted Strickland to discuss the state's plan for possible short- and long-term solutions to help Grand Lake.
