Roadway service manager Ralph Van Kirk of Ohio Department of Transportation District 7 performs a "Working for Winter" inspection of snow plows at the state garage along state Route 29 on Thursday in preparation for the winter season. During the winter of 2009-2010, Mercer County ODOT crews worked 40 days - 2,303 regular hours and 1,061 overtime hours - performing snow and ice control. The total cost for equipment, labor and materials was $316,167 or approximately $814 per mile.
