Raymond Poppe
Raymond H. "Ham" Poppe, 93, formerly of New Bremen and New Knoxville, died at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 30, 2010, at Otterbein of St. Marys.
He was born Aug. 19, 1917, near New Bremen to Edwin and Amanda Neuman Poppe. On June 14, 1941, he married Dolores Katterheinrich, who survives.
Deceased is a brother, Harold Poppe.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Knoxville and the New Bremen Senior Citizens. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked at the former STAMCO of New Bremen, Hoge Lumber in New Knoxville and the former Lock Two Mills.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, the Rev. Dennis Gaertner officiating. Burial is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
Calling is noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church memorial fund.
