Leo F. Goubeaux
Leo F. Goubeaux, 91, Fort Loramie, died Feb. 10, 2011, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster.
He was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Yorkshire, to Augustus and Josephine Smith Goubeaux. On April 8, 1944, he married Mary Lou Ernst, who survives.
Also surviving are six children, De Dee (Ken) Meyer, Jasper, Ga., Chuck Goubeaux, Fort Loramie, Kevin (Deb) Goubeaux, Fort Loramie, Brenda (Mike) Harris, Suwanee, Ga., Doug (Amy) Goubeaux, Fort Loramie, and Joyce (Larry) Tebbe, Covington; two siblings, Marie Rosengarten Geary, Minster, and Ruth Larger, Kettering; three sisters-in-law, Mary Goubeaux, Englewood, Anna Mae Ernst, Fort Loramie, and Katie Brechbill, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are six siblings, Winifred "Stan" Stanfill, Agnes (Otmer) Bowman, Urcenia (Roy) Mong, Gene (Marie) Goubeaux, Bernard (Eleanor) Goubeaux and Bill Goubeaux.
He served as a radar technician in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He attended St. Michael Catholic Church and was the first lifetime member of the Fort Loramie American Legion Post #355. He was owner and operator of Home Appliance in Fort Loramie for 50 years before his retirement in 1995.
Funeral mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery with full military honors.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad.
