Esther Borchers
Esther C. Borchers, 91, Fort Loramie, died March 16, 2011, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster.
She was born June 25, 1919, in Botkins to Alphonse and Agnes Buehler Bauer. On Aug. 18, 1942, she married William H. Borchers, who is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Roger (Ellen) Borchers, Franklin, Tenn., and David (Kathy) Borchers, Dayton; a daughter, Marily (Edward) Schweitzer, Celina; a daughter-in-law, Amanda Borchers, Muskego, Wisc.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, John Borchers; three siblings, Sister Ruth Marie, Wilbert and Frederick Bauer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jean and Pauline Bauer, Victoria and John Albers, Joseph and Mary Borchers, Carl and Elsie Borchers, Irene Borchers and Thomas and Emily Borchers.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie and was a member of the St. Ann's Ladies Sodality, Rosary Altar Society and Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary. She was president of the Fort Loramie American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Fort Loramie Historical Society. She served as a library and classroom volunteer for the Fort Loramie Elementary School and in the canteen for the American Red Cross blood drives. She was a 1937 graduate of Botkins High School and was part owner and operator of the former Borchers Store in Fort Loramie.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
