Bud Preston of Montezuma refurbishes the old baptismal font at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Maria Stein and hopes to finish it in time for the church's 175th anniversary concert set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The church has another font, and Preston was unsure what church leaders planned to do with the historic piece. Preston was recruited for the work by his son-in-law, Paul Mizer, who serves as the church's music director.
