* WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Vernon Winner
Vernon M. Winner, 89, Osgood, died April 4, 2011, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster.
He was born March 14, 1922, in Yorkshire, to Robert and Kathryn Bergman Winner. On June 16, 1948, he married Agnes Borchers, who survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are two sons, Jay (Ginny) Winner and Mark (Lori) Winner, all of New Bremen; siblings, Ralph (Elsie) Winner, Urban (Connie) Winner, Tom (Henrietta) Winner and Ken (Bev) Winner, all of Osgood, and Karen (Ron) Schwieterman, St. Sebastian; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are son, Craig, and a sister-in-law, Babe Winner.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Osgood. He also was past commander of American Legion Post 588 and a member of Mercer County Elks and Versailles Knights of Columbus. He served during World War II in the European Theatre with the U. S. Army.
He retired as former owner of Robert Winner & Sons in 1985.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Martin Cemetery in Osgood.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
