Motorcycle crash victims still critical

By Margie Wuebker
A St. Marys couple remain in critical condition today at a Lima hospital, where they were taken by helicopter, following a motorcycle-car crash Wednesday night near Montezuma.
Motorcycle driver Jerry W. Mullins, 49, and passenger Regina Mullins, 44, remain under treatment in the intensive care unit at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Mullins was driving a 2005 Honda westbound on state Route 219, west of Channel Drive, when Terri L. D'Andrea, 46, of Celina, attempted to turn her eastbound car into a private drive. The resulting collision occurred in the westbound lane, with the Mullins couple being ejected on impact. They were not wearing helmets, according to Mercer County Sheriff's Office reports.
Charges against D'Andrea are pending. Authorities indicated she exhibited signs of impairment at the scene. She reportedly refused to cooperate and a search warrant was obtained to permit blood tests at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. The test results are not expected for several weeks, according to chief deputy Gery Thobe.
Jody L. Homan, 45, of Celina, appeared in Celina Municipal Court on Thursday morning and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of misconduct at an accident scene and obstructing justice.
Homan told Judge James Scheer that her friend (D'Andrea) had been involved in the accident. Concern and worry led to a loss of judgement, she added. Scheer chastised her actions and imposed a $750 fine.
She reportedly became disruptive and refused to go to her nearby home despite repeated warnings from law enforcement officers and firefighters. At one point Homan went to the cruiser where D'Andrea was being questioned and claimed she had been driving the 2004 Ford Mustang.
