Louis Doenges
Louis William Doenges, 91, New Bremen, died at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21, 2011, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
He was born May 7, 1920, in St. Marys, to William J. and Marie Oldiges Doenges. On Aug. 19, 1944, he married Lucille K. Huecker, who died March 2, 2005.
Surviving are 15 children, Susan (James) Wagner, Celina, Andrew (Jan) Doenges, New Bremen, Joseph (Sharon) Doenges, Sugarland, Texas, Nancy (Patrick) Fitzgerald, Bowling Green, Fran (Mick) Hanselman, Ashtabula, William (Edith) Doenges, St. Marys, Mark (Terri) Doenges, Wapakoneta, Rita (Ralph) Tobe, Coldwater, Greg (Carol) Doenges, Philothea, Therese (Bill) Pohlman, Versailles, Edward (Marge) Doenges, New Bremen, Kathleen (Rob) Tucker, Radford, Va., Barb Doenges, Kuwait City, Kuwait, Jeff Doenges, Bethesda, Md., and Amy (Shawn) Brady, Springboro; a brother, Vernon Doenges, Wapakoneta; a sister, Mary Lee (James) Wissman; a sister-in-law, Irene Doenges, Minster; 39 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Walter and Jess Doenges.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of Chickasaw VFW. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a former Franklin Township trustee and a member of Mercer County Planning Commission. He had retired from New Idea, Coldwater, and farmed.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Neurological Center or to State of the Heart Hospice.
