Light snow across the area early this morning will increase in coverage and intensity toward sunrise in the I-70 corridor. This band of moderate snow will push south affecting the Tri-State region by mid morning, eventually pushing south of the area by early to mid afternoon.
Snow amounts of 1-2 inches will common for a good portion of the area on grassy surfaces, with melting on concrete surfaces limiting accumulations. Main impacts are expected to be reduced visibilities and some slick spots on mainly bridges and overpasses.
Temperatures today will remain steady mainly in the upper 20s. These cold temperatures combined with gusty winds of 20-25 mph will result in wind chill values in the teens to lower 20s.
Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Monday morning commute.

Richard Thomes
Richard L. "Rick" Thomes, 55, Wapakoneta, died Oct. 14, 2011, at his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1956, in St. Marys, to John Robert and Jane L. Schmehl Thomes. His father is deceased; his mother survives in St. Marys.
Other survivors are a son, Troy M. Thomes, Celina; a stepson, Jeff (Kim) Lindemeyer, Columbus; a brother, Robert (Patty) Thomes, St. Marys; two sisters, Vicky (Roger) Dysert, St. Marys, and Nicci (Jon) Gambill, Minster; a former wife, Julie Lindemeyer, Ironton; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked at Industrial Paint and Strip West in Waynesfield.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 9289 and American Legion Post 323. A private family burial will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
