Sarah 'Becky' Agler
Sarah Rebecca "Becky" Agler, 91, Van Wert, died at 11:07 p.m. Feb. 12, 2012, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Van Wert to Orley W. and Jennie M. Baker Putman. On Aug. 14, 1941, she married James Keith Agler, who died April 7, 2001.
Surviving are daughters, Cheryl Joan (Tom) Compton, Troy, and Barbara Ann (Bud) Reed, Van Wert; sisters, Joan Schlatter, Van Wert, and Betty Wellman, Celina; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She retired in 1979 after 30 years service as a clerk at the former Clark Shoe Store.
She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert, and Gleaners Sunday school class. She was a 1939 graduate of Van Wert High School.
She was a 50-year member of Women of the Moose, Van Wert, earning the Academy of Friendship and College of Regent degrees. She was a member of Buckeye Y. She also was a member of Campfire for 37 years, serving as a leader, board member, president and camp director, and received a life membership and Luther Gulick Award.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Revs. Paul W. Miller and John Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before service Thursday at the funeral home.
