Theodore Brown
Former Mendon resident Theodore E. "Ted" Brown, 93, Centerville, died at 1:19 p.m. April 11, 2012, at Bethany Lutheran Village, Centerville.
He was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Mendon, to Bennett and Fern Severns Brown. On April 3, 1948, he married Mary Jane Clapper, who died Oct. 30, 2001.
Surviving are three sons, Craig J. (Rebecca Asppenzeller) Brown, Springboro; Kent T. (Deb) Brown, Columbus, Mont., Scott D. (Patty) Brown, Canton, Ga., and three grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Claude and Charles Brown.
A graduate of Bowling Green State University, he later served as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired in 1981 from Marathon Oil, Findlay, after 35 years of service.
He was a former member of Arlington United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer. He was a former president of Arlington High School board of education. He was a founding member of Sycamore Springs Golf Courts, Arlington.
Service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, the Rev. Harry W. Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
Calling is noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
