Richard A. "Dick" Whyte
Richard A. "Dick" Whyte, 73, formerly of St. Marys, died of natural causes on April 23, 2012, at his residence in North Fort Myers, FL.
He was born August 8, 1938, in Dayton, OH to the late George and Ruth (Honican) Whyte. Survivors include his former wife, Linda Bruns, Celina; two daughters, Julia (Jonathan) Kraner, Celina and Liana Whyte, Greenville, SC; grandsons, John "Adam" and Samuel Sites, Celina and granddaughter Jessica Whyte, Greenville, SC; six step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Carol Tormala, Lakeport, FL. A brother, George B. (Jerry) Whyte is deceased.
He was a 1956 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys and attended Miami Jacobs Business College in Dayton. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957 and retired as Air Traffic Controller Chief Petty Officer. Subsequently, he was employed by the Mercer County Sheriff's Department. He relocated to Florida in 1980 and was employed by Florida Auto Air and First Federal Bank until retirement.
A memorial service will be held at Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 3 p.m. Rev. Jon Kraner will officiate. Calling will be at the church prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the Hospice provider of your choice.
