The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Rex Laffin
Rex Laffin, 60, formerly of St. Marys, died July 14, 2012, in Naples Fla.
He was born Nov. 1, 1951, in Celina, to Orville and Maxine Goodwin Laffin.
Surviving are a daughter, Kelly (Dave) Kiefer, St. Marys; a son, Erik Laffin, St. Marys; three sisters, Connie (Harold) Nance, Cincinnati, Karen (Billy) Smith, Naples, and Rebecca Matthews, Naples; two brothers, Bill (Beverly) Laffin, Wapakoneta, and Kim Laffin, Lima; and four grandchildren.
He was a 1970 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and attended Good Samaritan Hospital School of Radiology, Cincinnati.
He worked in radiology at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, and at an orthopedic surgery center in Naples. He later worked as lead mechanic at Royal Gardens Poinciana Golf Course in Naples.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
No service will be held.
