A program that provides supervised visits for parents and children involved in custody disputes or abusive situations could be cut this month due to an unexpected funding loss.
OUR Home Family Resource Center employees recently learned the application to renew the three-year, $150,000 grant that funds the Reaching and Assisting Families in Transition program has been denied. Funds run out Sept. 30, and officials now are scrambling to save the program. [More]

CELINA - This year's drought has hurt landscaping and crops and is being blamed for poorer water quality in Grand Lake.
Celina Water Treatment Plant Superintendent Mike Sudman said plant workers are using more chemicals than last year to treat lake water.
Minster Oktoberfest
MINSTER - The Minster Girl Scouts - all 200 of them - will be the grand marshals for the 38th annual Minster Oktoberfest Parade on Oct. 7.
The theme for the 2 p.m. event is "Celebrating 25 Years of German-American Day." Other festivities take place Oct. 5-7.

World 100 at Eldora Speedway
ROSSBURG - Despite the best efforts of Eldora Speedway officials and the 122 competitors vying for the $45,000 top prize, Friday night's World 100 was postponed until later today, turning the two-day program into a one-day program beginning later today.
