Children's book author Cara Buehner and her husband, illustrator Mark Buehner, spent Thursday reading their books to elementary and preschool students and illustrating for high school art students at Parkway Local School.

The husband and wife team from Salt Lake City, Utah, also autographed books and attended a literacy event for parents in the evening. Books by the Buehners include "Snowmen at Night," "Snowmen at Christmas," "Snowmen at Work," "Fanny's Dream" and "The Escape of Marvin the Ape."

The Buehners have won many state and national awards for their work. The Rockford Carnegie Library sponsored the visit to the school through money donated from the Fern Moorman estate. The Buehners' books are for sale at the library.
