Eugene Bergman

Eugene F. "Gene" Bergman, 82, Maria Stein, died at 7 p.m. Nov. 21, 2012, at his home.

He was born Oct. 1, 1930, in Maria Stein to Lawrence and Frances Bruns Bergman.

On June 20, 1956, he married Kathleen "Kate" Schulze, who died Nov. 10, 2012.

Surviving are his children, Linda (Steve) Moeller, Maria Stein, Randy (Linda) Bergman, Maria Stein, Jay (Pam) Bergman, Montezuma, and Jody (Rick) Gerlach, St. Henry; siblings, Anna Marie Osterloh, Coldwater, Raymond "Jim" (Faye) Bergman, Dayton, Othmar "Curly" (Margaret) Bergman, Montezuma, and Larry (Jeanne) Bergman, Egypt; in-laws, Iva Lou Bergman, New Bremen, and Tom Minch and Zenia (Bob) Wilhoff, all of New Carlisle; and 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Also deceased are brothers, Dick and Marinus Bergman; sisters, Irene Minch and Teresa Wilhoff; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Osterloh.

He belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, coached Little League in the Marion Local community and volunteered at Marion Local Schools. He co-owned and operated New Bremen Machine & Tool.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Gene Schnipke officiant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
