Merlin Blumhorst
Merlin W. Blumhorst, 99, New Bremen, died at 11:35 a.m. Dec. 3, 2012, at St. Marys Living Center.
He was born Oct. 15, 1913, near Kettlersville, to William and Bertha May Blumhorst. On June 8, 1946, he married Eldine Bertke, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, William (Karen) Blumhorst, New Bremen; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Deceased are two sisters, Luella Topp and Helen Schrolucke.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, and worked as a farmer and butcher shop owner. He also worked in the pattern shop at Minster Machine Co. for 25 years.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating.
Burial will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Grand Lake Hospice or the church memorial fund.
