Snow showers associated with an arctic front are moving through this morning, providing a quick accumulation of snowfall. With wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph, the snow showers combined with blowing snow are reducing visibility and creating challenging travel conditions. These conditions are most impactful on roads that are more rural and are aligned from north to south. Even after the snow ends, elevated winds will continue to blow snow into the early afternoon.
Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

An Arctic front will sweep east across the region between 5 AM and 9 AM. A few hours of snow showers and west wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph will occur with the frontal passage. While any accumulations will generally be a half inch or less, some challenging travel conditions may develop given, rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities, strong wind and cold temperatures. These conditions will impact the morning commute. Use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.

Miriam Holtkamp
Miriam B. Holtkamp, 93, residing at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community near Sidney, went to her heavenly home at 1:15 a.m. Jan. 1, 2013.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1919, in Shelby County to Herbert and Mary Zorn Fogt. She married Llewellyn "Charlie" W. Holtkamp on June 21, 1941, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1970.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (Edward) Judt of Lafayette, Ind.; her granddaughters, Kristine Robinson and Tonia Judt, both of Lafayette, Ind.; her grandson, Brian Judt of Nobelsville, Ind.; her great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Zachary Robinson; her brothers, Carl (Fae) Fogt of Van Wert, Herbert (Ada) Fogt of Troy, and Eugene (Mona) Fogt of Houston, Texas; her sister, Ruby (Richard) Cecil of Brownsburg, Ind.; her sister-in-law, Donna Ruth Fogt of Millersburg; her brothers-in-law, Robert Mays of Kettering; and Don Elsass of Sidney; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Virgil (Carolyn) Fogt and Norman Fogt; sisters, Wilda Fogt and Doris Mays; grandson-in-law, Mark Robinson; brother-in-law, Forrest Bambauer; sister-in-law, Beatrice Bambauer Gerber; and nephews Bob Fogt and Jim Michaels.
She graduated from the former Blume High School in Wapakoneta. For many years she worked with her husband at their business, Holtkamp Implements in Kettlersville. For more than 70 years, she was an active member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary of Sidney and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter. She was an avid card player.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville, with Pastor Charles Moeller officiating.
Calling will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the Schwaberow Cemetery near Kettlersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Church Memorial Fund.
