Ernest Wenning
Ernest E. Wenning, 81, New Bremen, died at 11:15 p.m. April 17, 2013, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
He was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Carthagena to Ben H. and Bernadine Weitzel Wenning. On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Joan M. Evers, and she survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are his daughter, Phyllis Schwartz of New Bremen; son, Mark (Nancy) Wenning of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Ashley Wenning of Bowling Green and Greg Wenning of Pemberville; and sister, Viola Miller of Fort Recovery.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, two sisters and his son-in-law, Werner Schwartz.
He was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He had attended St. Henry High School and enjoyed fishing trips with his family and friends. He was an auto mechanic and had retired from Huelsman Automotive in Chickasaw after more than 30 years of service. He also worked at the former Dicke Service Station in New Bremen.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Holy Redeemer, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will be in German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
