Edna Tontrup
Edna C. Tontrup, 87, St. Marys, died suddenly April 22, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 1, 1926, in St. Marys Township, the daughter of Leo and Mary Ruedebusch Schroeder, who are deceased. She married Louis Tontrup on Aug. 30, 1947, and he preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1974.
She is survived by her three children, Sandra Tontrup of Dayton, Steven Tontrup of St. Marys and Stan Tontrup of St. Marys; one sister, Naomi Rison of St. Marys; numerous nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are a daughter, Sharon Stamm.
Edna was a 1943 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She retired from Crown Equipment Corp. after 30 years of service.
She very much enjoyed people and loved going camping. She belonged to several card clubs, had been a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, liked to do crochet work and enjoyed visiting the St. Marys Senior Citizens Center. She was a member and past president of the New Bremen American Legion Auxiliary and a very active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and had prepared funeral dinners and community meals. She will be remembered as a person who was generous with her time and friendship.
Funeral rites will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray officiant. Private family burial rites will be held at the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Calling is 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys.
