Charles Wangler
Charles F. "Chuck" Wangler, 83, Portland, Ind., passed away May 2, 2013.
He was born in Fort Recovery on Jan. 23, 1930, to Felix and Vivian Kleinhenz Wangler.
Surviving are two sons, Charles S. Wangler of Houston, Texas, and Mike (Katrina) Wangler of Portland; a daughter, Theresa (John) Miller of Bend, Ore.; a sister, Betty Fullenkamp of Fort Recovery; and four grandchildren.
He retired in 1992 from Teledyne Portland Forge, where he had been a forging designer and estimator. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1948 Fort Recovery High School graduate, a member of Jayland Wood Carvers, Jay County Historical Society, American Legion Post #211 and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, all of Portland.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Joe Hines presiding. Burial will be in the Stranton Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #211.
Calling is 4–7 p.m. Monday. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society.
