* WHAT...For the Blowing Dust Advisory, visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust. For the High Wind Warning, west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.
* WHERE...Auglaize, Hardin, and Mercer Counties.
* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Very strong wind gusts and dry soil is leading to areas of blowing dust across the area. This is causing visibility to be reduced to one mile or less in localized area.
Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing visibility. Slow down and leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
As winds slowly decrease late this afternoon into the evening, blowing dust should diminish.

Thelma Schmitmeyer

Thelma R. Schmitmeyer, 89, Minster, died at 10:26 p.m. May 9, 2013, at Elmwood Assisted Living, New Bremen.

She was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Osgood, to Fred and Mary Synck Bohman. On May 10, 1944, she married Henry Schmitmeyer, who died March 30, 1986.

Surviving are six children; Judy (Jan) Frericks, Minster, Ron (Irma) Schmitmeyer, New Bremen, Mary Jo Granger, Minster, Dale (Sandy) Schmitmeyer, Minster, Dave (Marge) Schmitmeyer, Minster, Susan (Mark) Bornhorst, Minster; three sisters-in-law, Verena Bohman, Coldwater, Velma Wellman, Coldwater, and Alberta Schmitmeyer, Minster; 14 grandchildren, Tess (Steve) Abbott, Rod (Holly) Frericks, Brice (Brook) Schmitmeyer, Carrie (Jason) Becker, Aaron (Jayne) Schmitmeyer, Jessica (Darrel) Reese, Burke (Amy Jo) Granger, Justin (Missy) Schmitmeyer, Holly (Freddie) Johnson, Andy (Jenna) Schmitmeyer, John Schmitmeyer, Troy (Mandy) Bornhorst, Maria (Joel) Mendes and Valerie (Dustin) Gardner; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also decease are nine siblings, Catherine Bohman, Hedwig (Dick) Mescher, Alfred (Catherine) Bohman, Otmer (Agnes) Bohman, Dorena (Aloys) Knapke, Hilda (Elmer) Kremer, Elmer Bohman, Adrian Bohman, and Maurice (Olivia) Bohman; and in-laws, Leander (Elsie) Schmitmeyer, Mathilda (Clem) Poeppelman, Frank Albers, Rosa (Joe) Enneking, Albert (Clara) Schmitmeyer, Leona Schmieder, Henrietta (Herman) Hoying, Clara (Edwin) Schmiesing, Elsie (Elmer) Borgert, Fred Schmitmeyer, Bernard Wellman and Marie (Greg) Holdheide.

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the church's Ladies Sodality and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #1391, Minster.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster.

Calling is 3-8 p.m. Monday and 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
