Mathilda Fortman
Mathilda Fortman, 94, formerly of Minster, died at 4:30 a.m. Aug. 5, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Egypt, to the late Joseph and Katherine Hoehne Meyer. She was married to Anthony A. Fortman on Oct. 20, 1943, in Egypt. He died June, 4, 1998.
Survivors are a son, Ronald Fortman, Columbus; a daughter, Margie Fortman, Minster; three grandchildren, Peter and Radha Fortman, Laura and Paul Jones, and Elaine and Luis Alicea; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic Alicea and Lydia Fortman Jones.
Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Margaret Fortman, and brothers and sisters, Rose Meyer, Lawrence and Elsie Meyer, Justina and Edward Schmitmeyer, Edward Meyer, Alvina and Ray Thieman and Emma and Julius Baumer.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and a former member of St. Monica Ladies Sodality.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Manor Activity Fund.
