Sophie Pfister
Sophie Mae Pfister, 92, Rockford, died Aug. 29, 2013, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born in Paulding County to Eli and Emma Helen (Gerber) Pfister.
Survivors include a brother, John G. (Patricia) Pfister, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and four sisters, Marie Martin, Ossian, Ind.; Kathryn Louise Heirholzer and Matilda Howell, both of Celina; and Pauline Baxter, Willshire.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer, and infants, Paul, Ralph and Robert Pfister.
She was a self-employed hairdresser; a former member of the National Hairdresser's Guild; Rockford Chamber of Commerce; Shanes Crossing Historical Society; Secretary of Republican Women of Mercer County; President of Ohio Cosmetology Association Affiliate #44; and Rockford United Methodist Church, where she was also a substitute teacher. She was the winner of many awards and trophies for her excellence as a hairstylist.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Latty Apostolic Christian Church, Latty. Burial will follow in the Latty Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
Calling will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Donations may be made to Latty Apostolic Christian Church or Rockford United Methodist Church.
