For five years, he and Tom Huston of Coldwater reconditioned 178 bicycles and delivered them to needy children on Christmas Eve. Each morning he went to Northmoor Golf Course for coffee and conversation, which kept him young at heart. He was a competitive golfer who had multiple holes in one. When his grandsons were growing up, he also loved attending their activities.
