During the predawn hours, winds will increase ahead of a low pressure system moving east through the lower Great Lakes. Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected through this afternoon, possibly gusting to 45 mph in a few spots. Wind is expected to decrease overnight but remain relatively strong at 20-25 mph this evening.
Please be aware of these strong winds especially if driving a higher profile vehicle. Secure loose outdoor objects and shore up seasonal decorations if possible.

William Slavin
William P. Slavin, 53, Rockford, died Feb. 19, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born March 7, 1960, in Boston, Mass., to Peter Slavin and Marie Grahm Donohoe. His father survives in Cottonwood, Calif., and his mother survives in Rockford. His stepfather, William Donohoe, is deceased.
In 2012, he married Rhonda Meckstroth in Rockford, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bill Slavin, Massachusetts, and Justin (Constance) Slavin, Rockford; three stepsons, Joshua Meckstroth, Jesse Parsons and Johnny Parsons, all of Rockford; two daughters, Jamie and Danielle, both of Massachusetts; a stepdaughter, Olivia Meyers, Huntington, Ind.; a brother, Teddy Slavin of Massachusetts; two sisters, Lori Slavin, Lima, and Kelly Gayton, Massachusetts; and six grandchildren.
He was a culinary art instructor.
Private family services are planned.
