Janet Thompson-Steen
Janet E. Thompson-Steen, 75, Celina, died at 3:12 p.m. March 12, 2014, at Celina Manor Nursing Home after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Piqua, to William and Nellie (Davidson) Prasuhn. On April 18, 1994, she married John "Jack" Steen, who died Feb. 1, 2011.
Surviving are six daughters, Vickie (Larry) Pearce, Stilwell, Kan., Sandra (David) Yahl, St. Marys, Betsy (Ron) Coelho, Lima, Betty (Terry) Terhark, Findlay, Donna (J.R.) Woods, Springdale, Mich., and Susan (Randy) Wicker, St. Marys; her former husband, Robert Thompson, Paulding; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three step-children, Dennis "Gary" (Lindy) Steen, Hamilton, Steven (Ruby) Steen, Celina, and Johnathan (Carlene) Steen, Coldwater; and siblings, Wanda (Dale) Rismiller, Greenville, June (James) Strobel, Greenville, and Linna Peters, Greenville, S.C.
She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Dorothy Kay Goins, and siblings, Doris Finn, Phyllis Von Nagy and Dale Prashun.
She was a 1953 graduate of Greenville High School and had been employed as a pharmacy technician for many years at Rite-Aid Pharmacy in St. Marys and CVS Pharmacy in Celina. She enjoyed boating on Grand Lake, playing cards, dancing and collecting butterfly and owl figurines. She adored her dog, Shadow, and her cat, Cookie.
A memorial service will be 5 p.m.. Saturday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki officiating.
Calling is 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the neurofibromatosis foundation or through nffamilyfoundation.org.
