Richard Winner
Richard L. "Beetle" Winner, 69, Minster, died at 3:45 a.m. May 6, 2014, at Versailles Health Care.
He was born April 7, 1945, in Coldwater, to Clarence and Clara Borchers Winner. He married Susan E. Bergman on Nov. 25, 1971, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport, and she survives in Minster.
He is also survived by children, Carla and Jeff Boate, Minster, Brian Winner, Minster, Alan and Kim Winner, Minster; four grandchildren, Hanna, Ella and Josi Boate, and Joshua Winner; brothers and sisters, Ron and Charyl Winner, Leesburg, Fla., Roger "Pete" and Sarah Winner, Tipp City, Jane and Jim Hatfield, Glen Ellyn, Ill., Judy Winner, Minster, Pat and Mike Gavit, Minster, Greg and Teresa Winner, Minster; brother-in-law, Peter Lafalce, Lexington, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Winner, Fort Loramie; mother-in-law, Norma Bergman, Russia; and in-laws, Mike and Joan Bergman, Russia, Lester and Candi Bergman, Fort Loramie, and Mary Lou Fullenkamp, Minster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Pam Lafalce, and father-in-law, Lester Bergman.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the Minster American Legion and Celina Moose. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and retired in 2008 as a salesman for Bode Finn and worked part time for CarQuest, Minster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the Rev. Rick Nieberding celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or the James Cancer Center.
