Richard Brabant
Richard Brabant, 82, Celina, passed away Aug. 29, 2014, at Celina Manor.
He was born July 3, 1932, in Delphos, to Sylvester and Marcile Rayman Brabant. On Dec. 1, 1956, in Delphos, he married Marilyn Etgen Brabant, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard E. Brabant and Roger D. Brabant, both of Celina.
Deceased are four sisters, Florence Metcalf, Betty Hawk, Dorothy Martin and Shelva Scoonover.
He served in the United States Army from 1949-1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal with six bronze service stars. He also received a United Nations Service Medal and was honored with a Purple Heart. He was a senior staff sergeant serving on the 73rd Heavy Tank Battalion.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3035, the Eagles Aerie 471 and Disabled Veterans. He also was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He retired from Fruehauf after 42 years as a spray painter.
Services were Wednesday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos; the Delphos Veteran's Council performed military rites.
