Jackie Makley
Jackie L. Makley, 72, St. Marys, died at 10:55 p.m. Oct. 3, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born June 9, 1942, in St. Marys, to Charles and Gretchen Zimmerman Makley.
Surviving are eight siblings, Bob (Doris) Makley, St. Marys, Charles Makley, Wapakoneta, Betty Jean Henning, Mendon, Beverly (Bud) Hunton, Huber Heights, Carol (Dave) Richardson, Alabama, Ila Kay Makley, St. Marys, Wilma Ginter, St. Marys, and Mary Frey, St. Marys, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was tragically preceded in death by his 13-year-old son, Jack Jr., who was struck by a train on his bicycle. Also deceased are a brother, George Makley; and a sister, Ruth Ann Makley.
He had worked at Manbeck Nurseries, New Knoxville, for many years, and retired from the St. Marys Foundry. He was a NASCAR and NFL fan and loved camping and going to Eagles Lodge 767. His favorite activity was his daily drive around Grand Lake St. Marys and Forty Acre Pond.
Rites are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, High Street chapel, St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling is noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
