Martha Smith
Martha Schoch Smith, 92, Dayton, passed away Nov. 22, 2014.
She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Fort Recovery, to Stephen and Margaret Reinhardt Schoch. She was married to Edward F. Smith, who is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda (Lloyd) Smith Cooper; five sons, Chad Smith, Brian (Terri) Smith, Mark Smith, Quintin (Beth) Lindsmith and Craig (Lisa) Smith; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Zehringer; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was a nurse at the former St. Elizabeth Hospital, Dayton, and later served as a social worker for the Montgomery County Board of Health. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She also had volunteered as an emergency room nurse at Kettering Medical Center.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling is 5-7 p.m. today at the George C. Martin Funeral Home, Northridge Chapel, Dayton.
