Robert Dix
Robert D. Dix, 85, died Dec. 14, 2014, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Paulding County, to Lloyd S. and Beatrice Hoop Dix. He was married to Eula Miller, who is deceased. In 1971, he married Ethelena L. Sharp Tunis, who died Dec. 7, 1999.
Surviving are three children, John E. (Sandy) Dix, Paulding, Sue (Dave) Kimmel, Rockford, and Ellen (John) Wycuff, Celina; six stepchildren, Cheryl (Dick) Emerling, Paulding, Judi Cook, Fort Wayne, Ind., Terry (Myra) Tunis, Paulding, Tammy Dugan, Paulding, Scott (Reese) Tunis, Summerfield, Fla., and Lorna (Jeff) Beining, Ottawa; a sister, Sharon Daniels, Silver Springs, Fla.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are two stepsons, Roger and Michael Tunis.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, a mechanic for the former Phlipot Ford Dealership in Paulding and a mechanical repairman for B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn. He was a member of VFW Post 587 and Fraternal Order of Eagles 2405, Paulding.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Dave Meriwether officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne, with military graveside services.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
