Kathryn Broering
Kathryn J. "Kate" Broering, 91, Maria Stein and formerly of Celina, passed away Jan. 8, 2015, at Avow Hospice, Naples, Fla.
She was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Maria Stein, to Anthony and Anna H. Lochtefeld Kleinhenz. On Sept. 9, 1950, she married Dr. Andrew F. Broering, D.D.S., who died July 12, 1993.
Surviving are three children, Nancy E. Broering, Maria Stein, Dr. Jane A. (Barry) Broering-Ammons, M.D., Toledo, and Dr. Thomas K. (Kathryn) Broering, D.D.S., Minster; three grandchildren, Katelyn Rose Ammons, Elizabeth Grace Ammons and Andrew Frank Broering; four siblings, Mary Heitbrink, Dayton, Harold (Virginia) Kleinhenz, St. Henry, Thomas Kleinhenz, St. Henry, and Andrew (Betty) Kleinhenz, Centerville; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Martha Kleinhenz, St. Marys, Harold (Rosella) Broering, Maria Stein, Irene Broering, Frenchtown, and Mildred Broering, St. Henry.
Also deceased are four brothers, Joseph, Paul, Walter and Stanley Kleinhenz; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Lucille Kleinhenz-Heric, Irene and Adeline Kleinhenz, Rosemary (Norbert) Overman, Lawrence (Stella) Broering, Richard (Ellenora) Broering, Joseph (Ann Rita) Broering, Roman (Erma) Broering and Father Victor, Clarence and Cyril Broering.
She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress who custom-tailored clothing for family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge and attending her grandchildren's activities.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, and volunteered at The Spiritual Center of Maria Stein. A former member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Celina, she had been very active in the church and school as a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella, and as a volunteer in the school cafeteria.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m., Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, the Rev. Ken Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Thursday and 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina.
Memorials may be given for Masses or to the Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund.
