Joan E. Gregorovich, 85, St. Marys, died at 4:34 p.m. Jan. 10, 2015, at Lima Memorial Health System, surrounded by her loving family after being offered "prayers for the dying" by her parish priest.
She was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Cincinnati, to Theodore and Mary Mc Enery Goeller. On Oct. 25, 1952, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hamilton, she married Charles J. Gregorovich Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mary (Jay) Ernst, Fort Loramie, and Ann (Rick) Warnes, Toledo; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Gregorovich Jr., St. Marys, and John Gregorovich, St. Marys; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ailene Mack, Hamilton, Kay (Drex) Winsted, Cincinnati, and Carole (Claude) Chaney, Fairfield.
She was a 1947 graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School, Hamilton, and a homemaker. She was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, volunteered as a religion instructor and sang in the funeral choir for many years. She was a lay distributor of communion to those confined by illness to homes, hospitals and extended care facilities. She also was a member of the Altar-Rosary Sodality of the church and its Legion of Mary for 30 years.
Faith and family were the foundation of her life. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she served as a room mother and playground monitor for many years at Holy Rosary Catholic School. She also spent countless hours making rosaries for those in need.
She was an ardent supporter and contributor to both EWTN Global Catholic Network and the Right to Life movement.
Her favorite pastimes included knitting dishcloths; playing cards, especially bridge; and spending time with her family.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, west chapel, St. Marys.
