Robert D. Waltmire Jr., 50, Van Wert, went home to be with his heavenly father at 12:12 a.m. Jan. 17, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born Jan. 19, 1964, in Van Wert, to Robert Sr. and Johnette Dempsey Waltmire. His father is deceased, and his mother survives in Van Wert. He was married to Laurie Beaverson, who survives in Van Wert.

Also surviving are a son, Justin (Abigail) McBurnie, Indianapolis, Ind.; six stepchildren, Natasha (Jeremy) Roberson, Andrew (Jenna) Beaverson, Michelle Stripe, Adam Stripe, Chad Stripe, Noah Collins and Alexis Dunlap; two grandchildren, Kalee and McKenna McBurnie; three stepgrandchildren, Jacoby Roberson, Jax Roberson and Makenna Beaverson; a brother, Randall (Sherri) Waltmire, Coldwater; and his best friend, his cockatoo, Sonny.

He was a 1982 graduate of Van Wert High School and worked 20 years at Eaton Corporation, Van Wert. He was a member of the American Legion Post 178, Van Wert, the Legion Riders of Van Wert and the Cruiser Club Chapter 06, Van Wert.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Alspash-Gearhart Funeral Home and Crematory, Van Wert.
