Doris Prenger
Doris A. Prenger, 76, of Minster, Ohio, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at 8:22 p.m. at her residence.
She was born June 21, 1938, in Egypt, Ohio, to Lawrence and Agnes (Mescher) Hoying. They preceded her in death. She was married on December 29, 1959, in Egypt, to Robert A. Prenger.
He survives along with their 10 children, Kristine Prenger, Minster; Patrick and Darlene Prenger, Dayton; Lisa and Larry Trimbach, Dayton; Ann Prenger, Columbus; Karla and Greg Herman, Dayton; Tracy and Brad Heitkamp, Minster; Katrina and Tim Nixon, Minster; Jessica and Kaustubh Bhalerao, Savoy, IL; Monica and Alon Huddleston, Westfield, IN; and Philip Prenger, Columbus. Doris is also survived by thirty-three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Also surviving are her siblings, Celestine (Bud) Hoying, Ft. Loramie, Walter and Sharon Hoying, Sidney, Nick and Joyce Hoying, Minster, Sister Carolyn Hoying C.PP.S., Chicago, Larry and Karen Hoying, Sidney, Roger and Kay Hoying, Ft. Loramie, Marge and Mike Kitzmiller, Ft. Loramie, James and Marty Hoying, Russia, Mary Agnes and Gary Muhlenkamp, Geneva, Indiana, and Elaine and Jim Staton, Jackson Center; her sisters- and brothers-in-law, Norma and Leo O'Reilly, Minster, Edward and Norma Prenger, Minster, Wilfred and Carol Prenger, Sidney, Lorena and Norman Bohman, Maria Stein, Ralph May, Coldwater, Al and Mary Prenger, Minster, Ken and Diane Prenger, Minster, and Tom and Donna Prenger, Tipp City.
She was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hoying, Doris Hoying and Marilyn May.
Doris was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Church Funeral Choir, Mission Commission, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, a religion teacher and communion distributor, a Girl Scout leader, and a founding member of the Minster Area Life Squad. After retirement from work as a nurse and nurse aide instructor at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, she continued work as an Ohio nurse aide certifier and seamstress at Emmy's Bridal.
She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and spending time with family. She rarely missed celebrating children and grandchildren's birthdays and events, and recently stated she wanted her legacy to be the importance of family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at St. Augustine Church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday, and 9 to 9:30 a.m., Monday, at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
