Leoma Schaller
Leoma V. Schaller, age 97, of Good Samaritan Center, Arlington, OH passed away late Monday evening March 30, 2015.
She was born May 21, 1917, in Van Buren Twp. to the late George and Dora (Bame) Smith. She married Ralph W. Schaller on December 23, 1934, and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2004, three months short of their 70th wedding anniversary.
She worked as a server at Stella's Restaurant in Arlington and cleaned houses in Findlay, Bluffton, and Arlington.
Surviving are her sons: Dean Schaller of Coldwater, OH and Larry (Charlotte Rettig) Schaller of Findlay; daughters: Rosella (James) Billcheck of Winter Haven, FL and Jane (Fred) Borkosky of rural Arlington. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Mabel Smith.
A daughter-in-law, Carolyn Schaller preceded her in death. Her deceased siblings are: Wilbur Smith, Lester Smith, Ethel Heldman, Lavonne "Bonnie" Heldman, Harold Smith, and Luella Bormuth.
She has nine grandchildren: Deborah (Mark) Gross, Mark (Angela Nolan) Schaller, Kathy (Lawson) Wade, Jennifer (Robert) Koch, Cindie (David) Schroeder, Brian (Amy Elsea) Billcheck, Travis (Julie Powell) Borkosky, Tyson (Melissa Deringer) Borkosky, and Tiffanie (Daniel) Jewett.
One grandchild, Todd Borkosky is deceased.
There are also three step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She attended Arlington High School and was a lifelong member of Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington, where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years. She and her husband were former custodians of the church. She was a member of the women's group, and several Bible study groups. She enjoyed fishing at Neebish Island, MI and enjoyed cooking for family dinners.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Good Samaritan Center for all of the wonderful care.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington and for one hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00 a.m.) on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Good Home Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Reverend Steven Ramsey will officiate and burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Van Buren Twp., Hancock County.
Memorials may be made to Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington, Arlington Good Samaritan Center, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
