ROCKFORD - Parkway Local Schools officials are seeking renewal of a 1 percent, 5-year income tax issue on Tuesday's ballot to offset potentially reduced state funding.
Rural hospitals have fallen on tough times, with more closing in the last two years than during the previous decade.
Hundreds more are considered to be in financial jeopardy and some officials think changes in federal health care programs are to blame.
