A worker on Thursday uses heavy equipment to compact gravel in a former underground coal bin on the north side of the Mercer County Courthouse. The project is part of an effort to enhance handicapped parking. The area above the vacant coal bin will include parking spaces and a semicircle drive with access to a new ramp to the building, officials said.
